“Amazing location, the real Lombok with breathtaking views and friendly people.”
The location was amazing, waking up to the sunrise directly in front of the bale over the mountains and fields was unmatched. The dawn prayer call at 4am was actually a welcome experience too, I think we counted 7 mosques in the valley so if you can imagine the sound of these echoing through the valley it was something else. There’s also no alcohol up there so you’re going to bed early, embrace it.
We didn’t interact with the staff, there was a brief hello while we waited for the room to be cleaned but then nothing for the remainder of our stay. We also didn’t have breakfast offered to us as it’s meant to be included. This was a shame because the whole experience of Sembalun was incredible, especially with the local people. This could have been our fault for not pushing the staff more directly, but odd all the same especially for a home stay.
