The air conditioner seems to have not been cleaned for a long time, it's no longer kicking cold. The exhaust fan in the bathroom is broken, so the smell and toilet odor enter the room. The hotel facilities are not well-maintained.

This hotel is quite good as it is fairly new and strong, having withstood 3 earthquakes while I was there - 7.4, 5.4, 6.9 - and caused relatively little damage, so I was pleased with that aspect. The hotel is located in a strong Muslim area with nothing here to interest Western foreigners except if you want to listen to the mosque early in the morning and at night, as there is a speaker close to the hotel. Walking distance to the beach. No food around here and definitely no beer. Hotel food is rice or noodle Nasagoreng for breakfast, not a buffet breakfast as advertised. You need to catch a taxi back to Senggigi if you want good food and drinks with bars and restaurants. The hotel and staff were very friendly, but English is very limited among the staff, which is understandable for this area. All in all, it was a pleasant stay in a fairly clean hotel with big rooms and good hot water.

Grand Inn Hotel provides guests with rooms that offer great value for money. The room was large and the bed was most likely king-sized, which was great when sharing with a friend. There was plenty of room to fit suitcases, a small bench with a kettle, and a wardrobe. The TV was also a nice luxury with a few channels showing movies in English! The bathroom was difficult, as like most showers in Indonesia, there was no shower curtain or glass walls, so the bathroom would flood and take a long time to drain all the water away. The staff were very friendly, and the manager was very good at making us feel comfortable and welcome. However, it was sometimes difficult to communicate with some of the staff as they spoke limited English. The only real disappointment with this hotel was the location. You cannot walk to any nice beaches, scenery, or even shops and markets. You have to catch a taxi or hire a driver, which is relatively expensive as most of the places to see are 1-2 hours' drive away. The taxi drivers are also less friendly in this particular area and try to charge higher fees than even their meters, so you need to be extra careful to avoid being scammed and ripped off as a tourist.
