“Terrible stay, and I was robbed”

I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. I was robbed, and all the money was taken from my wallet. On the day I arrived, there was no water in the bathroom, and the staff member, Uda, told me they did not know how long the issue would last. The following morning, I accidentally left my bag with my wallet on my bed. Before leaving, Uda offered me water to fill the buckets. I needed to use the bathroom, and he explained that he normally left the hose over the door while the buckets were filling so that the door could be closed. In fact, he closed the door himself. I was gone for only 2–3 minutes. When I arrived at the snorkeling office, I discovered that my wallet was empty: NZD 180, approximately IDR 200,000, and my tour ticket had been taken (approximately IDR 2,000,000 in total). That same afternoon, I asked Uda whether they had cameras and explained that I had been robbed. He showed little interest and looked down at his phone from the moment I asked him. He told me that only the manager, who would arrive the following day, could review the footage. However, shortly afterward, when I left my room, I saw him standing with his back to my door, reviewing the cameras on his phone and immediately switching to another page. I chose not to confront him and went to the police. On 09-09-26, we met to review the camera footage with the police, but we were told that they did not have the recordings or the hard drive because of a power outage that had occurred that same morning. Unfortunately, these cameras were the only way to determine how long someone may have been inside my room while I was in the bathroom, as that was the only moment when my bag and wallet were left unattended or unlocked. The most disappointing part was that no one from the hostel took real responsibility or showed any concern about what had happened; they seemed more concerned about the place’s reputation. I recommend installing cameras with better visibility of the areas near the rooms
