The food and the host mother were very nice
We cannot understand the many positive reviews. While the host family is friendly, the negative impressions outweigh: The rooms are damp, very poorly furnished, and full of insects and other animals. There are no shelves at all, only a bed, toilet, and sink. The bed was rock hard, the pillows extremely uncomfortable like rocks. The shower only offered ice-cold water, the room was overall not clean, and there are no mosquito nets or protection - on the contrary, there are even holes in the walls. Communication only happens upon request. Only when asked specifically, you receive a friendly response or support, but no information is provided proactively. Particularly critical: Upon our inquiry, a very questionable tour agency was recommended to us for a volcano hike. The tour was overpriced, poorly organized, and overall a negative experience. Conclusion: Friendly hosts are not enough if basic standards like cleanliness, amenities, and reliability are not met.

The owner was very sweet and helped us with everything we needed. She woke up at 5 am with us to prepare breakfast before the Rinjani hike and let us use a room with hot water for a shower when we returned. Highly recommended!
