A lovely old Bali villa which felt very authentic. Comfortable beds, good mosquito net. Beautiful garden with palm trees. Breakfast was simple but tasty. Location is very good close to a lot of nice restaurants and the beach. Scooter rental was possible in the accommodation and worked well.
The accommodation could use some renovation. The bathroom in particular could have been cleaner. There is a bucket shower for warm water and a regular shower with cold water. The water pressure in the shower was very low because the showerhead was heavily clogged with limescale.

I first stayed at Ida's in 1979, went back for a nostalgic trip a couple of years ago, and this will probably be my last stay there. Ida is still there and enjoys a chat, an elegant, lovely lady. I said it hadn't changed since 1979, and she replied that they wanted to keep it that way!! Ida's is an old style losmen/homestay, set in a coconut plantation, just 50 meters from the beach, very much as it was way back then, a couple of buckets of water, hot and cold and a scoop for a 'shower'. It doesn't have aircon, but a ceiling fan does the job, and at this time of year, even a fan is not needed. Breakfast is basic but adequate, wifi was a bit patchy in my room, but OK on the verandah. Who needs to stay in touch with the world when at a place like Ida's?
Provided you know what to expect in an old style losmen, there is nothing not to like. If you thought you were booking 5*, you will be disappointed.
