My partner and I spent a month in Indonesia, and to choose the beaches we visited, we had several requirements (contrary to what one might think - or at least, contrary to what I thought before traveling to Indonesia - it is not easy to find beaches that are really worth it): no large tides (they are a problem because there are many places in Indonesia where the tide can make the sea recede for kilometers during much of the daylight period; also remember that in Indonesia, at least in August, the sun rises around five-thirty in the morning and sets around six in the evening), no currents (another significant problem in the Indian Ocean), no surfing beaches, no crowded areas, and not expecting to find dangerous animals. Looking for beaches that met these requirements, we came across Pantai Sire, and the place meets almost all of them (with a nuance that I now comment on in the part of what I didn't like). It is, in fact, like paradise: a small bay of calm water with a strip of fine white sand and, behind it, a forest, and in the entire bay there are only two resorts (Anema and Togu), so there are hardly any people. And to the place, it adds that, as is customary in Indonesia, the staff is pure kindness. As for the room, we opted for the cheapest option (I think they call it Junior Suite). It is very basic, but since we spent the whole day outside, it was enough.
Among the things I didn't like, I think there are three that should be taken into account (at least, not to be surprised if one decides to stay at Anema). The first is that the seabed where Anema is located is full of algae, which makes bathing impossible in much of the bay, and particularly in front of the hotel. However, it is possible to walk about 500 meters along the beach to the left of the hotel (just before reaching the warungs area), and there are no algae there, and it is delightful to bathe, with an impressive landscape. The second is that the hotel restaurant is of very poor quality (even at breakfast, which, by the way, they kindly gave us) and the prices are (for Indonesia) quite high. In another place with more options, it would not be a problem, but in Pantai Sire, it is. After dining the first night at Anema, the other four nights we went to dinner at the Togu Hotel restaurant, which is considerably better (especially the Indonesian food; the rest -Western, Japanese...- is of poor quality) and, besides, it is very, very beautiful. But here arises the third thing we didn't like: Anema offers the possibility of transportation to nearby places, but at surprisingly high prices for Indonesia (100,000 rupiahs per trip, even though the Togu Hotel is a kilometer and a half away), and does the same with excursions. To go to the Togu Hotel, we used the BlueBird taxi app, which is much less used by tourists, but Grab or Gojek do not work in Lombok (except in the cities). The trip to the Togu Hotel costs about 20,000 rupiahs. The drawback is that taxis only operate until around eight-thirty in the evening.
