“only for the brave”
1. First impression: Location: Hotel building: impressive skyscraper in a bustling northeast district of Jakarta. 2. apartment on the 32nd floor - impressive view from the window of the city skyline. 3. always warm water in the bathroom. 4. fairly quick remote contact with the apartment hosts (via WhatsApp and through the Booking service). A representative from Travelio company arrived punctually. 5. clean and comfortable bed (by the way, the only clean element in the apartment). 6. there was a router in the apartment allowing for fairly smooth internet connection (although the apartment description mentioned no internet) - however, it stopped working after a few days. 7. efficient air conditioning. 8. no bedbugs
1. First impression: dirt and stench!!! I must admit that I have never seen such a neglected place before. Upon opening the door, the smell of mold hits you. Thick layer of dust on the floor, scraps of paint peeling off the walls. Someone's hair in the bathroom, trash in plastic bags in the bathroom cabinet. The person writing these words is very resilient to discomfort, nevertheless, we intended to flee immediately. Fortunately, I found a broom and dustpan in the room - and managed to clear paths for daily functioning. 2. tragic condition of furniture (except for the bed). We were afraid to touch some (the sofa in the living room) throughout our stay. Very old and worn-out kitchen furniture with panels peeling off from the warped chipboard, even worse in the bathroom. These were probably the cheapest interior furnishings destroyed by the ubiquitous humidity typical of the local climate. 3. tragic kitchen equipment - everything is there: electric stove (one of the burners heats up enough to boil water in a small pot, a single pot, pan, plastic bowl, one fork and knife - all covered in food residues placed in dirty cabinets. 4. cockroaches - fortunately in moderate amounts. 5. little attractiveness of the location: we chose the location partly due to the distance from the train station: about a kilometer. Difficult road, for unaccustomed people - you have to carefully cross the congested highway - although this is very typical for Jakarta. 6. noise around the clock - despite being on the 32nd floor and not needing to open windows.
